High School Weekly Happenings 1.31.2011 - 1.4.2011

Jog-a-thon:  Packets were sent home today for our jog-a-thon.  Please encourage your student to participate in this fundraiser.  They have been informed about class prizes at the High School in addition to overall individual prizes.
Early Dismissal Monday:  Due to the soccer game at 3:00 on Monday, January 31st, all students are dismissed at 2:45.  Please come out and support our boys soccer team!
Re-enrollment:  Please be sure to return your re-enrollment forms as soon as possible to ensure your child’s placement next year.  New student applications will be available to the public next week.  No spots will be held.
Ole Miss Representative:  An Ole Miss Representative will be here Monday, January 31st at 10:30 a.m. to speak with any interested Juniors or Seniors.
Ole Miss Summer Academy:  Any 7th-9th grade student who is interested in attending the 2011 Summer Academy program at Ole Miss needs to see Mrs. Thompson.  This is a 3-week program that allows students to experience college life and benefit from added academic enrichment.
TARS:  Friday, February 4th, TARS will have a brief meeting following Chapel.
Rummage Sale Collection:  St. John’s Day School is hosting a rummage sale on February 5th to help support Lee Wade and her family.  Lee is courageously fighting cancer.  She and her husband, Lane, have a 3rd grader and a 5th grader at St. John’s Day School and a 9th grader here at LCHS.  Donations may be dropped off at St. John’s Day School Gymnasium.  For additional information you may contact Stacey Byrd at 601-433-3551 or staceybyrd@bellsouth.net.   Thank you for your support!
Lunch Plates for Rummage Sale:  The 9th grade students will be selling lunch plates (Barbecue sandwiches and chips) at the Rummage Sale on February 5th.  The cost is $5 and all proceeds will go to help the Wade family.  If you would like to order a plate ahead of time please call Debbie Fields no later than Thursday, February 3rd, at the High School office.  Plates may be picked up at the Rummage Sale.
Box Tops for Education:  Please send in your empty ink cartridges and Box Tops for Education to help with the purchase of new materials for the Library.  Thank you!

Tennis team:   Patrick Tibbs will hold a private tennis class for any LCS student on Fridays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $10.  Students must call ahead to secure a spot.  You may reach Coach Tibbs at 601-580-1336 if you have any questions.   Tennis team practices will be held each Wednesday at 1:30-2:30 and 3:30-4:30 beginning Feb. 2nd.  Please wear proper tennis shoes. 
Karate Class:  Luke Hammonds teaches a Shotokan Martial Art class every Monday night at 6:30 in the LCHS gym.   You may email him at hammondskarate@yahoo.com for more information.
