High School Weekly Happenings 3.28.2011 - 4.1.2011

No School: We will not have school at the High School on Wednesday, March 30th due to the ABC Competition. 

ACT Workshop: Peggy Varnado will be holding an ACT workshop this Sunday, March 27th at Parkway Heights Methodist Church Annex, 25th Ave. & Hardy Street, in Hattiesburg. The Science section lasts from 1:15-4:00 and the English section lasts from 4:00-5:30. You may contact Mrs. Varnado at 601-466-1406 if you are interested. 

Relay for Life (American Cancer Society): Fundraising efforts have begun for this year’s event, scheduled Friday, April 29th at the Sportsplex. LCS Team Captains are Mrs. Jade Yoder, Mrs. Holli Hinton, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lee. If you are interested in helping with any fundraising events or being a team member and walking at the event, please contact Jade Yoder (649-4190). Donations are accepted at any time. Please make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Our first fundraising event, Relay Spirit Day, will be held Friday, April 1st! Students must pay $2.00 to wear a blue, gold, or LCS shirt. Thank you for your support!

ACT Prep Camp: JCJC is offering an ACT prep camp this summer. The camp will be held Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, which is the week of the National ACT Test. The cost for the camp is $250 which includes room and board, and a copy of “The Princeton Review” ACT prep book. Ole Miss Summer College: Any 10th or 11th grade student interested in attending the Summer College for High School Students at Ole Miss, please see the information Mrs. Thompson has posted on her door. University of Alabama’s 2011 Capstone Business Leadership Academy: Any Junior interested in majoring in Business should see Mrs. Tina Thompson for information about this 10-day program.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 3.28.2011 - 4.1.2011

SAT Testing continues this week.  Parents, please make every effort to have your child here and on time each day!

Cheerleaders:  Pictures will be taken at Lyon Photo on Tuesday, March 29, @ 6:00 pm.  Wear your cheerleading outfit!

Drama Club:  ALL CAST MEMBERS, ALL INDIAN DANCERS AND CREW will meet Thursday, March 31, after school till 4:30. This week we will not use scripts!! Remember to wear your Drama Club T-shirt. This week's snack mom is Carlyn Pugh.  (50 players)

Drama Club:  How are the costumes coming along?  If you have any questions concerning costumes please call Mrs. Kathy Morgan at 601-649-1880.

Day in the Park Training:  Registration will continue through Friday, April 1.  The training starts Tuesday, March 29, from 2:30 – 3:30.  Please bring a water bottle and a healthy snack.  You must have a health consent form signed and turned in with registration.  

April 9th--Run to the Cross: sponsored by Coach Slaughter.. Half-mile fun run for ages 3-6, one-mile fun run ages 7-12. T-shirt included $12.00. Registration to be sent home/picked up at any LCS campus.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 3.28.2011 - 4.1.2011

Run to the Cross:  Coach Slaughter will return this year to train and run with your kids on Wednesday mornings.  She will be hosting a kid’s fun run April 9th at 9 am half mile run with chick-fil-a cow.  Registration forms will be sent home this week; you may return registration to the Preschool Office.
Easter Break:  We will be out of School on Friday, April 22nd and Monday, April 25th in observance of Easter.  We will return to school on Tuesday, April 26th.
Preschool Easter Parties:  The Preschool will have their Easter Parties on Wednesday, April 20th.  The K3 Students will have their parties from 9:00-9:45.  The K4 Students will have their parties from 10:00-10:45.  More information will be sent home regarding the parties will be sent home in the coming weeks.
Extended Care Payments are past due.  Please make payments ASAP.

Tuition:  March tuition was due on March 5th.  Please send in payments ASAP.
Re-registration:  Classes are beginning to fill quickly.  Please return Re-registration packets along with fees and capital improvement fees ASAP, to ensure a spot for your child for next school year.  
Sickness:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.  
Please be sure to label all jackets, lunchboxes, etc. with your child’s name.

High School Weekly Happenings 3.21.2011 - 3.25.2011

Report Cards:  Students will receive report cards on Thursday, March 24th.

SAT Testing:  All 7th-11th grade students will take the SAT on Thursday, March 24th and Friday, March 25th.  Please be sure students arrive on time as we will begin testing first thing in the morning.  Students will be dismissed at the regular time on Thursday, but will have an early dismissal of 12:30 on Friday.  Seniors are excused from school on both of these days.  

ACT Prep Camp:  JCJC is offering an ACT prep camp this summer.  The camp will be held Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9, 2011, which is the week of the National ACT Test.  The cost for the camp is $250 which includes room and board, and a copy of “The Princeton Review” ACT prep book.  For more information, please see Mrs. Tina Thompson or contact Bonnie Warren at 601-477-4170 or bonnie.warren@jcjc.edu.

High School Weekly Happenings 3.7.2011 - 3.11.2011

Jog-A-Thon Early Dismissal:  High School Students will participate in the Jog-A-Thon on Thursday, March 10th.   The 7th & 8th grades will participate from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and the 9th-12th grades will participate from 9:45-10:45.  All students will be dismissed at 10:45, but may be checked out earlier if they have finished their Jog-A-Thon activity.  Students are expected to arrive at the regular time that day.

No School:  We will not have school on Friday, March 11th due to a District Teacher Meeting.  Students will be off the following week for Spring Break and will return to school on Monday, March 21st.  Have a great break!

Re-enrollment:  Please be sure to return your re-enrollment forms as soon as possible to ensure your child’s placement next year.  Classes are filling up quickly.

Red Cross Bucket Drive:  Tuesday, March 8th, we will be holding a bucket drive as part of the Heroes Campaign for our local office of the American Red Cross.  Please come prepared to donate change for a worthy cause.

Dessert Theater:  On Thursday, April 28th at 6:00 p.m., the LCS Players will have their annual Dessert Theater at the Audubon Campus.  Tickets will be available soon.
