High School Weekly Happenings 1.31.2011 - 1.4.2011

Jog-a-thon:  Packets were sent home today for our jog-a-thon.  Please encourage your student to participate in this fundraiser.  They have been informed about class prizes at the High School in addition to overall individual prizes.
Early Dismissal Monday:  Due to the soccer game at 3:00 on Monday, January 31st, all students are dismissed at 2:45.  Please come out and support our boys soccer team!
Re-enrollment:  Please be sure to return your re-enrollment forms as soon as possible to ensure your child’s placement next year.  New student applications will be available to the public next week.  No spots will be held.
Ole Miss Representative:  An Ole Miss Representative will be here Monday, January 31st at 10:30 a.m. to speak with any interested Juniors or Seniors.
Ole Miss Summer Academy:  Any 7th-9th grade student who is interested in attending the 2011 Summer Academy program at Ole Miss needs to see Mrs. Thompson.  This is a 3-week program that allows students to experience college life and benefit from added academic enrichment.
TARS:  Friday, February 4th, TARS will have a brief meeting following Chapel.
Rummage Sale Collection:  St. John’s Day School is hosting a rummage sale on February 5th to help support Lee Wade and her family.  Lee is courageously fighting cancer.  She and her husband, Lane, have a 3rd grader and a 5th grader at St. John’s Day School and a 9th grader here at LCHS.  Donations may be dropped off at St. John’s Day School Gymnasium.  For additional information you may contact Stacey Byrd at 601-433-3551 or staceybyrd@bellsouth.net.   Thank you for your support!
Lunch Plates for Rummage Sale:  The 9th grade students will be selling lunch plates (Barbecue sandwiches and chips) at the Rummage Sale on February 5th.  The cost is $5 and all proceeds will go to help the Wade family.  If you would like to order a plate ahead of time please call Debbie Fields no later than Thursday, February 3rd, at the High School office.  Plates may be picked up at the Rummage Sale.
Box Tops for Education:  Please send in your empty ink cartridges and Box Tops for Education to help with the purchase of new materials for the Library.  Thank you!

Tennis team:   Patrick Tibbs will hold a private tennis class for any LCS student on Fridays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $10.  Students must call ahead to secure a spot.  You may reach Coach Tibbs at 601-580-1336 if you have any questions.   Tennis team practices will be held each Wednesday at 1:30-2:30 and 3:30-4:30 beginning Feb. 2nd.  Please wear proper tennis shoes. 
Karate Class:  Luke Hammonds teaches a Shotokan Martial Art class every Monday night at 6:30 in the LCHS gym.   You may email him at hammondskarate@yahoo.com for more information.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 1.31.2011 - 1.4.2011

Re-registration:  Re-registration packets were sent home for next school year.  Please return forms along with registration fees, as well as capital improvement fees to the school office to ensure your child’s spot for next year.   We have started Open Registration for new families.
Extended Care:  Extended Care payments for February are due tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1st; please make payments as soon as possible.
February Tuition:  Tuition fees for the month of February are due by this Friday, February 4th; please send in payments to the school office ASAP.

Please be sure to label all jackets, lunchboxes, etc. with your child’s name.

K5 Open House:  The K5 will have an Open House this Thursday, February 3rd at 6:30 pm
We are taking up t-shirt orders for the Wade family thru Friday, February 4th.  All proceeds will help support Lee Wade and her family as she battles her illness. 
Valentine’s Parties:  The Preschool Valentine’s Parties will be on Monday, February 14th at 10:00 am.  More information will be communicated through your class homeroom Mother.
Donuts with Dads:  Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 16th for Donuts with Dad.  More information will be sent home in the coming weeks.
Medication:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.  If your child requires medication during the day, please send in an appropriate, labeled container with instructions and permission to administer medication to your child.

Weekly Happenings:  The Weekly Happenings will go out on Fridays from this point on.

Headmaster’s Breakfast:  All 7th-12th graders who made all A’s the 2nd nine weeks are invited to attend the Headmaster’s Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 27th at LCHS.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 1.24.2011 - 1.28.2011

Preschool Open House:  (K-3's and K-4's) Tuesday, January 25, 6:30pm, at Covenant Campus. 

K-5 and Elementary Open House: (K-5 through 2nd Grade) Thursday, February 3, 6:30pm, at Audubon Campus.

Yearbook Order Forms are being sent home today.  All orders are due Friday, February 4.  If you are interested in advertising in our annual, please contact Amanda Kennedy at 601-649-4190 or akennedy@laurelchristian.org.

4th Grade Drama Club will meet Tuesday, February 1, for the annual 4th Grade Talent Show.  Be sure to turn in your talent show entry form.

High School Weekly Happenings 1.18.2011 - 1.21.2011

Booster Club Meeting: All parents are invited to attend a very important booster club meeting at 6:30 on Tuesday, January 18th. Lunch 

Forms: February Lunch forms will be due by the end of the school day on Friday, January 21st. Those who ordered lunch on Monday, January 10th will be credited one lunch in February. When filling out your February lunch form please be sure to deduct $5 and write “credit from January 10th”. This will be the only time to use that credit.
