High School Weekly Happenings 9.27.2010 - 10.1.2010

Early Dismissal: This Friday, Oct. 1st, the High School will dismiss all students at 2:30 due to the Speech and Debate Tournament that we are hosting.

Carpool Line: Students need to be picked up no later than 3:30 each day.

Student Parking: Students must have a parking permit hanging from their rearview mirror if parking in the school lot. If a student vehicle does not have a parking permit it will be ticketed and the student will owe the office $2. Please also remember to only park in the spaces reserved for LCHS students. If you are not sure which spaces are for student use you may check the sign hanging in the office. Students also will not be allowed to go to their car until the end of the day.

Karate Class: On Monday, October 4, LCS will hold its first karate class. The style of martial art will be Shotokan. The class will meet every Monday at 6:30 in the LCHS gym. All students ages 8 and up are welcome. The monthly fee is $40 per student. For more information email Luke Hammonds at hammondskarate@yahoo.com.

Junior/Senior Breakfast: Our annual Jr/Sr Breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, October 7th at 7:15 a.m. in the High School Gym. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Romney Entrekin.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 9.27.2010 -10.1.2010

LCS Players Drama Club for 4th graders will meet for the first time this week, Tuesday, September 28, 2:40-4:00. The 4th graders will meet once a month both semesters.

Peewee Cheerleaders: Practice Friday, October 1, at the Elementary Campus, 3:00-4:30. There will be a Parent Meeting at 4:30. At least one parent of each child must attend.

Peewee Basketball: Girls practice on Thursday, September 30, at Life Church, 3:30-5:00. All peewee basketball players must pay a $50 athletic fee. Due now.

5th & 6th Grade Boys Basketball Practice: Tuesday, September 28, at Southeastern Baptist College, 3:15-5:15. Each player must bring their own water bottle! Each player must have a sports physical before 1st game. If needed, contact Twila Walters at 601-577-0248. All basketball players must pay a $50 athletic fee. Due now.

Originating in Okinawa, Japan, this ancient art is practiced all around the world. The class will meet every Monday beginning at 6:30 pm at the LCHS gym. Ages 8 and up are welcome. Extended Care: Extended Care payments for October are due by Friday, October 1st. Please send in payments on or before Friday. Thank you!

October tuition: Tuition payments for the month of October are due on or before Tuesday, October 5th. Please make payments by October 5th. Thank you!

Special Snacks: Please try to send healthy snacks on the days you send in special snacks for your child’s class.

**Please remember to send in $2.00 for birthday gifts for our teacher assistants. Thank You!

Coke Sale Reminder: Pick-up date is October 12th in the parking lot beside the tennis courts on the elementary campus.

Harvest Festival News: We are starting the process of collecting donations for the silent auction to be held at the Harvest Festival in November. We want to have some great items for you to bid on this year. Please be considering what your family or business could donate to make this a great night. We would love items for the home, office, yard and garden, men’s tools, and kid’s items. Gift certificates are great also. We are also asking for sponsors for this year’s Harvest Festival. You can become a sponsor by making a cash donation. There are four donor categories for cash donations:

*Platinum- $1000 and over

*Blue and Gold- $500 to $999

*Silver- $250-$499

*Bronze- $100-$249

*PTO Sponsor- $0-$99

Please consider asking just 2 or 3 business owners or individuals to donate or make a donation yourself to help us have a great Harvest Festival. Make checks payable to LCS PTO. Elementary Weekly Happenings 9.20.2010 - 9.24.2010

School Picture Day:  School pictures will be taken Tuesday, September 21stOrder forms were sent home last week.  Please return the order form to your child’s teacher on Tuesday morning.  Please make sure your child wears their navy blue school uniform shirt.  Girls may also wear their blue jumper with white blouse.

LCS Players Drama Club for 5th and 6th graders will meet for the first time this year Thursday, September 23, 2:40-4:00.  The 5th and 6th grade LCS Players will meet once a month this fall and then will meet weekly second semester to prepare for the spring play. 
LCS Players Drama Club for 4th graders will meet for the first time next week, Tuesday, September 28, 2:40-4:00.  The 4th graders will meet once month both semesters.

High School Weekly Happenings 9.20.2010 - 9.24.2010

Senior Parent Meeting:  On Monday, September 20th there will be a meeting for all senior parents at 5:30 p.m. in the gym of the 
High School Campus.  All parents of seniors need to come out tonight for this very important meeting.

School Pictures:  High School pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 23rd first thing in the morning for all 7th - 11th graders.  Order forms were sent home today.

Lunch Forms:  Please turn in your lunch form no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24th.    You should have received one through email, or you can print one from the website.  Lunch forms are also available at Mrs. Yoders desk.

TARS Meeting:  This Friday, September 24th, the TARS will meet immediately following chapel.  Mr. Lew Yoder will be the guest speaker for this meeting.   If you have not turned in your $15 for your t-shirt please do so ASAP.  T-shirts will not be ordered without payment.

Letterman Jackets:  If you ordered a letterman jacket, the deadline to have your money mailed to NEFF is September 29th.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 9.13.2010 - 9.17.2010

NO SCHOOL:  Please not that the PRESCHOOL CAMPUS will be off Tuesday, September 14th.  There will be NO School and No Extended Care.
Extended Care & Tuition:  Extended Care fees and tuition Fees for September are past due.  Please send in payments to the Preschool Office ASAP.  Thank You!
Kid’s CafĂ©:  October lunch forms will go home this week.  Please return by Thursday, September 16th.  
Coke Sale:  Coke sale dates are from August 30th- September 10th.  Pick-up date is October 12th in the parking lot beside the tennis courts on the elementary campus.
PTO:  The PTO will have a school wide meeting on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 6:30 pm at the Elementary Campus.  We will be discussing events for the upcoming school year.   The PTO will also be giving away (2) $100 Cash Prizes!  Please make plans to attend.
There will be a Homeroom Mothers Meeting immediately following the school wide PTO meeting on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 6:30 pm.  Please make plans to attend to get your Homeroom Mom information for the school year.
The Preschool homeroom mothers will have a meeting in the resource room at 7:30 am on Friday, September 17th.

High School Weekly Happenings 9.13.2010 - 9.17.2010

PTO:  Please come out for our school wide PTO meeting Thursday, September 16th at 6:30 p.m. at the elementary campus.  We will be discussing events for the upcoming school year.  The PTO will have a drawing of $100 for both a teacher and a parent.
8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip:  Due to conflicts for several 8th grade families the D.C. trip has been cancelled.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. 
   
Senior Parent Meeting:  On Monday, September 20th there will be a very important meeting for all senior parents at 5:30 p.m. in the gym of the High School Campus.  We will be discussing important information for our seniors.  All parents of seniors need to attend.
TARS T-shirt Orders:  All members who ordered a t-shirt need to have their $15 to Mrs. Fields in the office no later than Friday, September 17th.
Lost and Found:  Please come by the office to pick-up any items you may be missing.  Any items not claimed by Friday will be donated to the Salvation Army.
