High School Weekly Happenings 12.13.2010 - 12.17.2010

Christmas Break:  High School students will be out of school on Friday, December 17th through Tuesday, January 4th for the Christmas Holiday.  All students will return to school on Wednesday, January 5th.  Have a very Merry Christmas!

TARS:  Any TARS and/or parents of TARS who would like to be a Salvation Army Bell Ringer during Christmas Break, please call Nancy Bell (601-757-5713) or Captain Bill Mockabee (601-498-5491).

Tuition:  If you pay your tuition by semester, and have not sent in your 2nd semester payment, please do so.  Payments were due on Wednesday, December 1st.

Gift for Soldiers Drop Off Date Extended:   TARS and the Career Discovery Class are collecting items to send to two soldiers from our community.  (Craig Sumrall and Josh Satcher)  Please drop off any of the following items in the box located at the office by Wednesday, December 15th.  Thank you!
Nuts, gum, peppermints, beef jerky, slim jims, Pop tarts, nabs, Little Debbies, wipes, deodorant, razors, powder, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, playing cards, books, magazines (hunting/fishing), and Christmas cards. 

Booster Club T-shirt Orders:  If you ordered blankets, car flags, or t-shirts please come to the office on Thursday to pick them up.  Thank you!

Saturday, December 18th: 1:00 Boys Soccer Game against River Oaks at Flowood 
Players need to be at University Christian’s Field by 12:00.

Tuesday, January 4th: 4:00 Basketball Game at Prentiss

Basketball players:  Sponsorship forms and money are due no later than Tuesday, December 14th.

Tennis team:   The Friday class with Coach Patrick Tibbs has been suspended until February.

Karate Class:  Luke Hammonds teaches a Shotokan Martial Art class every Monday night at 6:30 in the LCHS gym.   You may email him at hammondskarate@yahoo.com for more information.

FCA:  Due to exams the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will not meet this week.

Peewee Basketball and Peewee CheerleadersThere will be no games or practice this week.

Extended Care:  There will be No Extended Care on Tuesday, December 14, due to the faculty and staff Christmas Party.  

K5 Christmas Program:  Wednesday, December 15, at 10:00 am, in the sanctuary.  Parents, grandparents, family and friends are invited!

Friday, December 17, will be ½ day.  There will be No Extended Care on this day.  Dismissal times are as follows:     
11:00…………K5 and 1st grades
11:20………...2nd – 4th grades
11:40…………5th and 6th grades

Board Games:  During cold weather and rainy day weather we have P.E. inside.  If you have any Board Games that are still intact and have all the pieces and would like to donate it to the school please send it to the office. Thank you.

Christmas Holidays:  We will be out of school December 20 – January 4.  We will return to school on Wednesday, January 5.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 12.13.2010 - 12.17.2010

***Please note that there will be NO EXTENDED CARE on Tuesday, December 14th due to the LCS Staff Christmas party.  We apologize for this inconvenience, but the entire LCS Staff attends this event on Tuesday afternoon.
Christmas Break:  Please note that we will be out for Christmas break December 20th thru January 4th.  We will RETURN to school on Wednesday, January 5th.   (This is the corrected dates for Christmas Break.) 

Please make sure that your child has a warm coat for the days we go outside for recess.
Extended Care:  December Payments for Extended Care are past due.  Failure to pay may result in a loss of Extended Care privileges.  Please send in payments ASAP.
Please continue to Pray for Kyle Carpenter (Mrs. Moran’s nephew) who was seriously injured in Afghanistan.  He is still in critical condition and in need of much prayer.
**Second semester tuition is past due.  Please send in payments to the Office ASAP.
December tuition:  December tuition is past due.  Please make payments ASAP.
Christmas Parties:  The Preschool will have their Christmas Parties on Friday, December 17th at 10:00 am.  We will have regular dismissal at 11:30 am, but children have permission to leave after the parties with parents who attend.  There will be NO EXTENDED CARE available that day due to the beginning of the Christmas Holidays.
Medication:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.  If your child requires medication during the day, please send in an appropriate, labeled container with instructions and permission to administer medication to your child.

High School Weekly Happenings 12.6.2010 - 12.10.2010










Tuition:  If you pay your tuition by semester, and have not sent in your 2nd semester payment, please do so.  Payments were due on Wednesday, December 1st.

T-shirt Order Forms:  If you are interested in ordering t-shirts, blankets, or car flags, please be sure to turn your order form into the office no later than Monday, December 6th.  If you need an order form you may find one on the kiosk at the main entrance. 

Lunch Orders:  January lunch orders are due no later than 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8th. 

TARS Meeting:  The Teenage Republicans will meet this Friday, December 10th, after chapel.  Salvation Army Captain, Bill Mockabee will speak.  TARS will be able to sign up as volunteers to be Bell Ringers for the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign.  You may call Nancy Bell (601-757-5713) if you have questions.

Spirit Day:  All students may wear an LCS shirt (or blue & gold) on Friday, December 10th if they bring $1 that morning.  You will be expected to pay as you enter the facility.   Otherwise students must wear chapel dress.

Early Dismissal:  Students who would like to attend the 2:00 soccer game on Friday, December 10th may pay $1 to be dismissed at 1:45 and attend the game.  If you do not attend the game you will remain in the school building for a study hall until the regular 3:05 dismissal.  All students who pay $1 must go to the game and will not be allowed to leave until 3:05.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 12.6.2010 - 12.10.2010

January Lunch Forms will go home Monday.  Please return by Friday, December 10.

Peewee BasketballThe next game is an away game at Sacred Heart, Saturday, December 11, at 10:00 am.
(Please note the time change)
Girls Peewee Basketball Practice: Friday, December 10, at Plainway Baptist Church, 3:30-5:00.  

Boys Peewee Basketball Practice:  Tuesday, December 7, 3:00 - 4:30, at Southeastern Baptist College, and Friday, December 10, 3:00 - 4:30 at Southeastern Baptist College.

Peewee Cheerleaders Practice:  Monday, December 6, 3:00 - 4:30.  They will cheer on Tuesday, December 7, at the 2 Junior High Basketball Games.  Game times are 4:00 and 5:00.  ALL Cheerleaders need to be at the High School by 3:45.

Prepayment of 2nd Semester is due now.  

Christmas Chapel:  1st, 2nd and 3rd graders will be singing Christmas songs in chapel on Wednesday, December 8th, at 8:10 am, in the sanctuary.  Students are asked to wear a Christmas colored top and their uniform bottoms.  The top may be a solid color or Christmas motif. Everyone is invited.

Annual LCS Players Talent Show:  5th and 6th graders, Thursday, December 9th, after school, in the cafeteria.  Entry Forms were sent home last week.  To participate:  You must turn in your entry form by 8am, Thursday, December 9.  (Extra forms are available in the office.)  4th Grade Drama Club is invited to attend. 

4th Grade Drama Club will not have a separate meeting this month.  They are invited to attend the 5th and 6th Grade Talent Show instead.  4th Grade Drama Club Members will have their talent show in February.
