High School Weekly Happenings 2.21.2011 - 2.25.2011

National Honor Society:  The NHS will be volunteering at the Christian Food Mission February 21st-25th.  If you are a 10th-12th grader in the National Honor Society and would like to work one of those days, please sign-up with Mrs. Crager.

Dress Code:  As a reminder, students who are not in dress code will have to call parents to bring them appropriate attire.  If a student receives 3 violations he/she will have to serve detention.

Re-enrollment:  Please be sure to return your re-enrollment forms as soon as possible to ensure your child’s placement next year.  New student applications are now available.  We are not able to reserve any places.

Ole Miss Summer Academy:  Any 7th-9th grade student who is interested in attending the 2011 Summer Academy program at Ole Miss needs to see Mrs. Thompson.  This is a 3-week program that allows students to experience college life and benefit from added academic enrichment.

Box Tops for Education:  Please send in your empty ink cartridges and Box Tops for Education to help with the purchase of new materials for the Library.  Thank you!

Congratulations to the following students for making the All Division Soccer Team:
Dean Pace, Connor Bell, Drew Fennell, Max Moran, and Jeremiah Marcellino
Dean Pace and Drew Fennell were also selected by the MAIS coaches to represent the South in the 
All-Star Soccer game to be played at 5:00 on Friday, March 4th at Jackson Academy.

Tennis Team:  Coach Tibbs will hold practices for the tennis team on Wednesdays (1:30-2:30 & 3:30-4:30) beginning on March 2nd.

Tennis:   Patrick Tibbs will hold a private tennis class for any LCS student on Fridays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $10.  Students must call ahead to secure a spot.  You may reach Coach Tibbs at 601-580-1336 if you have any questions.   

Karate Class:  Luke Hammonds teaches a Shotokan Martial Art class every Monday night at 6:30 in the LCHS gym.   You may email him at hammondskarate@yahoo.com for more information.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 2.21.2011 - 2.25.2011

4th Grade Drama Club:  Congratulations to Tyson Keys for being the winner in the 4th Grade Drama Club Talent Show. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated!  

5th & 6th Grade Drama Club will meet this Thursday, February 24, after school till 4:00.  All cast members need to be there.  The Indian Dancers and Crew will start coming in March.  This week's snack mom is Jennifer Moffett (35 players).

Drama Club Reminder:  All 4th, 5th and 6th grade Drama Club Members may wear their Drama Club T-shirts on Thursdays, whether they are meeting or not.  

Drama Club Snack Moms:  Please call Mrs. Kathy Morgan at 601-649-1880 if you would like to bring snacks for Drama Club.  Thank you!

Reading Fair is Thursday, February 24.  Please have boards in the cafeteria by 8:15 am.  Remember to place the book in front of the project.  Name goes on the back.

Reading Fair Open House will be Thursday, February 24, in the cafeteria from 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm.  Boards should be taken home at the end of Open House.  Boards left in cafeteria will be sent home with students on Friday.

MAIS District Spelling Bee:  Congratulations to Isaiah Smith for coming in 2nd place in 2nd grade!  Congratulations  to Logan Pitts for coming in 6th place in 5th grade.  Congratulations to Sam Sumrall for coming in 6th place in 6th grade!  Good Luck to Isaiah Smith as he advances to the State Competition!

Thank You to the Moms of 3rd grade for the wonderful lunch!  The lasagna, salad and desserts were delicious!  Thank you!

Jog-a-thon:  Thank you to all of those who brought in mailers for our jog-a-thon!  If you forgot to send in your mailers please do so as soon as possible.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 2.14.2011 - 2.18.2011

Re-registration:  Classes are beginning to fill quickly.  Please return Re-registration packets along with fees and capital improvement fees ASAP, to ensure a spot for your child for next school year.  
Extended Care:  Extended Care payments for February are past due.  Please send in payments to the office to ensure no loss of Extended Care privileges.

February Tuition:  Tuition fees for the month of February are past due.  Please send in payments ASAP. 
Donuts with Dads:  Donuts with Dad will be this Wednesday, February 16th beginning at 7:15 am
Medication:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.  If your child requires medication during the day, please send in an appropriate, labeled container with instructions and permission to administer medication to your child.

High School Weekly Happenings 2.7.2011 - 2.11.2011

Dress Code: As a reminder, students who are not in dress code will have to call parents to bring them appropriate attire. If a student receives 3 violations he/she will have to serve detention. 

Jog-a-thon: Packets were sent home for our Jog-a-thon. Please encourage your student to participate in this fundraiser. They have been informed about class prizes at the High School in addition to overall individual prizes. The deadline for mailers to be turned in is Friday, February 11th.

Early Dismissal Monday: Due to the boys HOME soccer play-off game at 3:00 on Monday, February 7th, all students are dismissed at 2:30. Please come out and support our boys soccer team! 

Senior Parent Meeting: All parents of seniors are asked to attend a very important meeting at 5:00 on Tuesday, February 8th, at LCHS.

K-5 and Elementary Open House: (K-5 through 2nd Grade) Tuesday, February 8, 6:30pm, at Audubon Campus.

March Lunch Forms will go home today.  Please return by Friday, February 11.

Jog-a-thon packets went home last week.  Please read all the information inside.  We need school-wide participation to raise money for many of our organizations here at LCS.  Please note the final date to turn in mailers to be counted for prizes is this Friday, February 11.  

Tardies:  There has been an excessive amount of tardies lately!  One of the reasons is parents are turning left onto Audubon Drive after dropping off their children.  This backs up the carpool line!  Another reason is several parents wait till almost 8:00 to come to school.  Please come a little earlier which will make the line flow smoother!
