Elementary Weekly Happenings 9.26.11 - 9.30.11

School Picture Day:  Tuesday, September 27.  Order forms were sent home last week.  Please return the order form to your child's teacher on Tuesday morning.  Please have your child wear their cobalt blue uniform shirt (Navy blue if you do not have the cobalt blue).
Grandparents Day:  On Friday, October 7th, grandparents are invited to eat with their grandchildren.  Students that did not order from Kid’s Café will need to bring a lunch from home.  Students will meet their grandparents in the cafeteria at their assigned time and be welcomed by Headmaster Rick Bartley and introduced to Principal Lee Sexton.  After eating, your child’s grade will be dismissed to their classroom for a short time with their teacher.  Afterward, your child may leave with his/her grandparents OR stay in their classroom.  School will be dismissed at 2:00.  At this time your child may go to Extended Care.  If your child will be staying in Extended Care on this day please let the school know by Friday, September 30th.  The following times are when grandparents will eat with their grandchildren:  Grandparents Day Schedule:

Wednesday, October 5, Laurel Christian School will be hosting the 2011 MAIS State Championship Swim Meet.  We are selling ads for the heat sheet, which will be seen by over 1,000 visitors.  If you would like to purchase an ad, prices are below.  All proceeds will go to Laurel Christian School.  Turn in ads to the school office by Thursday, September 29!  If you have any questions call Tiffany Cupit at 601-498-0244.

Reminder:   Please remember that drop-off begins at 7:30 am.
Preschool Pictures:  The Preschool will have School Pictures taken on Wednesday, September 28th
Grandparent’s Day:  Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 5th for Grandparent’s Day at the Preschool Campus.  More information will be sent home in the coming weeks.
**Please try to send your child to school in tennis shoes or shoes appropriate for play and are safer on the playground.
Extended Care & Tuition:   Extended Care & Tuition payments are past due for September.  Please send in payments by ASAP.
Sickness:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Medication:  If your child requires special medicine to be given at school, please send it in the backpack with instructions on how and when to give it.
Change of clothes:  Please be sure that your child has a change of clothes at school.  Please label all items and place in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 9.19.11 - 9.23.11

"Be a Hero"  Blood Drive:  Thursday, September 22, from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Laurel Christian High School.  Please support this blood drive and local patients.  Thank you!
Swim Team:  Swim practice is every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Natatorium, 
5:30 – 6:30, with Coach Ronald Eason.  
Swim Team Pictures: will be made Thursday, September 22, at 5:00.  All LCS swim team members are required to attend the 5:30 practice on that day.  This is a mandatory practice for the upcoming state meet on October 5th.  Any questions, call Coach Ronald Eason at

Elementary Weekly Happenings 9.12.11 - 9.16.11

School Wide PTO Meeting: Thursday, September 15, at 6:30 pm, in the cafeteria, at the elementary campus.  We will be discussing events for the upcoming school year.  The PTO will also be giving away (2) $100 Cash Prizes!  Please make plans to attend.
Homeroom Mothers Meeting: Immediately following the School Wide PTO Meeting on Thursday, September 15, at 6:30 pm, in the cafeteria.  Please make plans to attend and get your Homeroom Mothers information for the school year.
Extended Care: Payments are past due.
Kid’s Café: October Lunch Forms will be sent home today.  Please return them by Friday, September 16
Swim Team: Swim practice has begun.  Practice is every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Natatorium, 3:30 – 4:30.  Swimmers of all levels are encouraged to come join our team!
Swim Team Pictures: will be made Thursday, September 22, at 5:00.  All LCS swim team members are required to attend the 5:30 practice on that day.  This is a mandatory practice for the upcoming state meet on October 5th.  Any questions, call Coach Ronald Eason at

Elementary Weekly Happenings 09.06.11 - 09.10.11

School Wide PTO Meeting:  Thursday, September 15, at 6:30 pm, at the elementary campus.  We will be discussing events for the upcoming school year.  The PTO will also be giving away (2) $100 Cash Prizes!  Please make plans to attend.

Boys Peewee Basketball:  All 5th and 6th grade boys that are interested in playing Peewee Basketball need to sign up with Coach Melissa by this Friday, September 9.

Carpool numbers:  Please be sure that your carpool number is visible.  Use Windex or alcohol to moisten the windshield before applying the number to the upper passenger side on the outside of the windshield.
Extended Care:   Extended Care payments are past due for September.  Please send in payments by ASAP.
Sickness:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Backpack:  Please check your child’s backpack daily.  This is how we communicate with you.  We will check your child’s backpack daily for correspondence you send to school.
PTO:  If you have not signed up for PTO, please get a form from the office.  The cost is $15.00 per family.
Medication:  If your child requires special medicine to be given at school, please send it in the backpack with instructions on how and when to give it.
