High School Weekly Happenings 10.25.2010 - 10.29.2010

Headmaster’s Breakfast:  The PTO will host the Headmaster’s Breakfast at the LCHS Gym on Thursday, October 28th at 7:15 for all students who made the Headmaster’s List the first nine weeks.

Absentee Procedure:   If your child is absent, please be sure to send a note explaining their absence when they return to school.  Also, parents need to come in and sign their child out if they need to be picked up during school hours.

TARS:  The LCHS TARS will be working at the Jones Co. Republican Booth at the Laurel Fair on Thursday, October 28th.  Please contact Mrs. Bell if you’d like to work a one hour shift from 6-9 p.m.

College Fair:  All 11th & 12th graders are invited to attend the Pine Belt College Fair at William Carey on Wednesday, November 3rd.   Permission slips (located at the office kiosk) must be turned in no later than Friday, October 29th, for those who would like to attend.  For more information you may contact Tina Thompson or Jade Yoder.

Harvest Festival News
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 4th at the Audubon Campus*

Volunteers:  We need all High School students to work at this years Harvest Festival.  Please sign-up on the sheets posted in the office.   

Dinner Plate orders:  Please send in your order forms no later than Thursday, October 28th.

Arm Bands:  Please send in your order forms no later than Wednesday, October 27th. 

Dress-up Days:  
Tuesday, Nov. 2nd - Sports Day - Wear a top with your favorite team on it!
Thursday, Nov. 4th - 70’s Day - Appropriate (modest) dress with a 70’s theme!

Early Dismissal:  Students are dismissed at 11:45 on Thursday, November 4th due to Harvest Festival.

No School:  We will not have school on Friday, Nov. 5th due to working the night of Harvest Festival.

Monday, Oct. 25
Varsity Boys basketball practice at 5:30 a.m.
Cross Country State Meet (participants dismissed at 11:30)
Boys Soccer practice 3:30-5:00 p.m. at the Sportsplex

Basketball Practice Schedule:  Coaches will let players know the practice schedule for each week.

Girls Basketball Parent Meeting:  Tonight, October 25th, at 5:15 p.m. Coach Slaughter will hold a mandatory meeting for all parents of girls playing basketball this season.  Due to the State Meet, cross country participants are excused from this meeting, but be sure to see Coach Slaughter for details.

Lady Lions Soccer Picture:  Pictures will be taken at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21st.  All Lady Lions Soccer players need to meet on the LCHS soccer field at that time.  Please bring both uniforms to turn in, but wear your blue uniforms for the picture!

FCA Dodgeball Tournament:  On Thursday, November 4th the FCA will be hosting a double elimination dodgeball tournament.  Requirements:  6 players per team; players must register with Coach Slaughter this week during lunch period only;  each team must have a name at the time of registration; and each player must pay $5 at the time of registration.  Teams may have uniforms, but they must be modest and appropriate.

Tennis team:   All students wishing to be on the tennis team may practice with Coach Patrick Tibbs on Fridays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $10 a lesson.  For more information you may contact Coach Tibbs by phone (601-580-1336) or email (ptibbs006@yahoo.com). 

Karate Class:  Luke Hammonds teaches a Shotokan Martial Art class every Monday night at 6:30 in the LCHS gym.   You may email him at hammondskarate@yahoo.com for more information.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 10.25.2010 -10.29.2010

Peewee Basketball:  1st game, Tuesday, October 26, at Heidelberg Academy. Girls play at 6:30pm. Be there by 5:45pm. Boys play at 7:30pm. Be there by 6:30pm.  
Peewee Basketball:  5th & 6th Grade Boys Practice:  Time and place TBA.

Headmaster’s Breakfast:  If your child earned Headmaster’s List (All A’s and all E’s or S’s in Citizenship) they are invited to attend the Headmaster’s Breakfast, Wednesday, October 27, at 7:30 am, in the cafeteria.  
Awards Chapel:  Wednesday, October 27, at 8:10 am, in the sanctuary.  If your child earned Headmaster’s List (All A’s, and all E’s or S’s in Citizenship) or Honor Roll (All A’s and B’s and all E’s or S’s in Citizenship) they will be recognized and presented with an award certificate in chapel.  Parents are invited to attend.

Friday, October 29, will be a ½ day due to a church event hosted by Audubon Drive Bible Church.  Students will be dismissed as follows:    
11:15…All K5 and 1st grades 
11:30…2nd – 4th grades
11:45…5th and 6th grades
Extended Care will NOT be available. 

Harvest Festival T-Shirt Contest Winner:  Congratulations Eliana Gaddy!  Eliana is a 6th grader in Mrs. Hall’s class.  Way to go!

Harvest Festival:  Thursday, November 4, 5:30 – 8:00 pm.

Harvest Festival Dress Up Days are as follows:
  • Monday, November 1:  Crazy Hat and Tie Day.  Students must wear their uniform tops and bottoms.
  • Tuesday, November 2:  School Spirit Day.  Students may wear their favorite jersey or cheerleading uniform or an LCS t-shirt and jeans to show their school spirit.
  • Wednesday, November 3:  50’s Day.  Go back in time to the 1950’s and wear poodle skirts, bobby socks and saddle oxfords, or blue jeans, white t-shirts and penny loafers, etc.
  • Thursday, November 4:  Bandana Day.  Have fun wearing boots, bandanas, cowboy hats and jeans.  Yeehaw cowboy, its Harvest Festival Day! No spurs, chaps, or guns and holsters, please!
Music:  All K3 – 6th graders will be performing at Harvest Festival Night in the sanctuary.  Please have your child there 10 minutes before their performance time.  Students may wear their 2010 Harvest Festival T-Shirt, LCS T-Shirt or a plain T-Shirt with jeans or khakis for the singing program.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 10.25.2010 - 10.29.2010

Carpool:  For the Safety and wellbeing of our students, please remain in the carpool line to pick up your children.  If you must get your child early, please come to the office no later than 11:15 to pick up your child.  Thank you.
Preschool Picture Retake:  The Preschool will have a retake day on Wednesday, November 10thIf your child needs a picture retake, please send in your order form along with payment.
NO SCHOOL & NO EXTENDED CARE:  Please note there will be NO SCHOOL & NO EXTENDED CARE on Friday, November 5th
Lost Jacket:  We have a student missing a grey jacket with stripes on the sleeves.  If your child came home with the wrong jacket, please contact the school office (649-8989) or send it to the office.

Medication:  If your child is sick, please do not send him or her to school.  Please be sure that your child is free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.

High School Weekly Happenings 10.18.2010 - 10.22.2010

Report Cards:  Report cards were sent home with students today!

Half Day:  Please note that Friday, October 22nd is a half day for all campuses.  Students at the High School will be dismissed at 11:45.

PLAN:  The PLAN will be administered to all Sophomores on Wednesday, October 20th.  Those students will be dismissed once they have completed the test, which should be around 11:30.  Please let the office know if your child will be staying at school for the remainder of the day.

Lunch Forms:  Lunch forms are due this Thursday, October 21st by 3:00.  If you do not receive emails from the school, you may print one from the website or pick-up a copy at the office.

TARS:  The Teenage Republicans will meet this Friday, October 22nd, following chapel.  State Senator Chris McDaniel will be our guest speaker.

Harvest Festival Sign-up Sheet:  We need all High School students to work at this years Harvest Festival.  Please sign-up on the sheets posted in the office.  

Harvest Festival:  Please come out for a night of fun at our Annual Harvest Festival, on November 4th, at 5:30 p.m. on the Audubon campus.  Be sure to send in your order forms for Smokehouse Dinner plates by Thursday, October 28th.  Extra order forms are located in the office.

Elementary Weekly Happenings 10.18.2010 -10.22.2010

5th & 6th Grade Boys Basketball Practice:  Monday, October 18, at Life Church, 3:15-5:15.  Each player must have a sports physical before 1st game!  If you've not paid your $50 athletic fee it is due now
Peewee Cheerleaders:  Practice Monday, October 18, at the Elementary Campus, 3:00-4:30.

Peewee BasketballGirls practice on Tuesday, October 19, at Life Church, 3:30-5:00.  All peewee basketball players must pay a $50 athletic fee.  Due now.  

4th Grade Drama Club will meet Tuesday, October 19, after school till 4:00, in the cafeteria.  The meeting this month will be the last opportunity for you to join.

Friday, October 22, will be a ½ day due to Parent Teacher Conference Day.  Students will be dismissed as follows:    
11:00...Mrs. Harper's K5 class (Half Day K5)
11:15…Full Day K5 and 1st grades
11:30…2nd - 4th grades
