Elementary Weekly Happenings 10.31.11 - 11.3.11

Thursday, November 3:  Will be a half-day in order to set up for Harvest Festival.

Dismissal Times:  11:00…All K5 Classes
11:15…1st & 2nd Grades
11:30…3rd & 4th Grades
11:45…5th & 6th Grades

Friday, November 4: Due to Harvest Festival clean up there will be NO SCHOOL and NO EXTENDED CARE.   
Booster Club will have extra food plates available to purchase at Harvest Festival Family Night.              
Pre-ordered Harvest Festival Armbands:  Remember to wear them Thursday Night!
Harvest Festival Family Night:  Thursday, November 3, beginning at 5:00.

  • Silent Auction.......5:30-8:00
  • Live Auction..........7:00-7:30
Harvest Festival Dress Up Days are as follows:
  • Monday, October 31:  Red, White and Blue Day. (you may wear jeans)
  • Tuesday, November 1:  Blue and Gold Spirit Day. (you may wear jeans)
  • Wednesday, November 2:  50’s Day. Go back in time to the 1950’s. Wear poodle skirts, bobby socks and saddle oxfords, or blue jeans, white t-shirts and penny loafers, etc. The Sock Hop will be Wednesday morning. 
  • Thursday, November 3:  Occupation Day.  
Singing Schedule:  All K3 – 8th Graders will perform at Harvest Festival Family Night in the parking lot.  Please have your child there 10 minutes before their performance time.  Please have K3 thru 6th grades wear their 2011 Harvest Festival T-shirt or any LCS shirt with jeans or khakis for the singing program.

Preschool Weekly Happenings 10.31.11- 11.3.11

K4 Immunization Forms:  Please send in your child’s Certificate of Immunization Compliance (Form 121).  Forms must be signed by the District Health Officer, a physician, or a nurse.  Please send an Original Copy only; no photocopies.  All forms MUST BE turned in by November 16, 2011 to the Preschool Office.
Harvest Festival:  Please mark your calendars for this Thursday, November 3rd for our annual Harvest Festival.  The K3 and K4 students will sing at 6:00pm at our elementary campus.
Please remember to send in canned items for our Harvest Festival Canned-Food Drive.
No School & No Extended Care:  There will be No School & No Extended Care on Friday, November 4th.
Preschool Dress-Up Days:  Please note that the Preschool Dress-up days for Harvest Festival week are as follow:
Monday, October 31st:  Students should dress in red, white, and/or blue clothing.
Wednesday, November 2nd:  Students should wear blue and gold, our school colors.
As the cooler weather arrives; please be sure to LABEL all jackets, sweaters, etc. with your child’s name.
Library:  The LCS library is collecting Box-tops for education to purchase books.  Please send in any box-tops you have collected by Wednesday, November 2nd.
Tuition:   Tuition payments are due by November 5th.  Please send in payments ASAP.
Extended Care:  Extended Care payments are due tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1st.  Please send in payments ASAP.
Change of clothes:  Please be sure that your child has a change of clothes at school.  Please label all items and place in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name.

Friday, October 28, will be a ½ day due to a church event hosted by Audubon Drive Bible Church.  Extended Care will not be available

Boys Peewee Basketball practice:  Monday and Wednesday this week.
The teachers and staff would like to thank the 5th grade moms for the wonderful lunch last week!  The soups, salads and desserts were delicious!  Thank you!

Elementary Weekly Happenings 10.10.11 - 10.14.11

November Lunch Forms will be sent home Monday. Please return by Friday, October 14.
Headmaster’s Breakfast:  If your child earned Headmaster’s List (All A’s and all E’s or S’s in Citizenship) they are invited to attend the Headmaster’s Breakfast, Wednesday, October 19, at 7:30 am, in the cafeteria. 
Friday, October 28, will be a ½ day due to a church event hosted by Audubon Drive Bible Church.  No Extended Care will be available. 
Congratulations to the LCS Swim Team!  They placed 6th overall in the MAIS state meet.  Many of our individual swimmers placed as well.  They are:

Elementary Weekly Happenings 10.3.11 - 10.7.11

Carpool Line: For those parents that want to walk their children in to the school, IN THE MORNINGS ONLY, they need to park their cars on the end of the parking lot across from the sanctuary, on the Highland Baptist Church side.  (In case of inclement weather the sanctuary doors will be open.)
Grandparents Day Food: Parents, please remember to bring your food on Friday morning, October 7.  A PTO representative will be on hand to take your food item in the carpool line by the kitchen door.  PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SEND YOUR FOOD IN A DISPOSABLE CONTAINER! 
Grandparents Day:  On Friday, October 7th, grandparents are invited to eat with their grandchildren.  Students that did not order from Kid’s Café will need to bring a lunch from home.  Students will meet their grandparents in the cafeteria at their assigned time and be welcomed by Headmaster Rick Bartley and introduced to Principal Lee Sexton.  After eating, your child’s grade will be dismissed to their classroom for a short time with their teacher.  Afterward, your child may leave with his/her grandparents OR stay in their classroom.  School will be dismissed at 2:00.  The following times are when grandparents will eat with their grandchildren:

Peewee Basketball Practice (5th & 6th grade boys):  Monday, October 3, at 3:00, at Plainway Baptist Church.

Grandparent’s Day:  Grandparent’s Day is this Wednesday, October 5th at the Preschool Campus.  The Schedule is K3 8:15-9:00 am; K4 9:15-10:00 am.  Class Assignments are as follows:
Mrs. Freeman-2 dozen muffins
Mrs. Hunt- Pigs in a Blanket (1 doz. minimum)
Mrs. Moran- 1 bag seedless grapes, washed & ready to eat    
Mrs. Ishee- 3 doz. doughnut holes
Mrs. Lisanby- Gallon size Apple/Orange Juice or Milk & Clear or white plastic forks
Mrs. James- Sausage balls
